River Cole
River Cole Walk
Our Vision day started with all of the children making a delicious picnic lunch which included a wrap, a salad pot and a fruit pot. We made our wraps with tuna, cheese or chicken and could also include salad, sweetcorn and mayonnaise if we chose to. For the salad pots we had different vegetables to choose from: peppers, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, carrots and lettuce. The children chopped them carefully into sticks to fit in our pots. In our fruit pots we could choose a selection from melon, pineapple, grapes, strawberries and blueberries. We made lots of healthy choices.
We packed our lunches carefully into our backpacks along with a drink and then set off on our walk. Our route took us along the side of the River Cole and back via the park to school. We walked about 5 miles!
We stopped in a field for our picnic lunches and after that were able to paddle in the river – some of us got a lot of water in our wellies!
We walked back through Swanshurst Park where we tried to feed the ducks in between the rain showers. We made sure that we had proper wild bird food for them as we knew that we shouldn’t give them bread.
We were all worn out (and a little damp) when we got back to school, but thoroughly enjoyed our walk. The weather was a little wet, it rained (and hailed) but it didn’t stop us from having fun. We are hoping the children will want to go back with their families soon and show them where we went.
