Nursery
Welcome to Nursery! We are going to be engaging in some really interesting and exciting learning opportunities this year in Nursery. We know that as we increase the amount of stories, rhymes and songs we are familiar with; our vocabularies will grow and bloom in all areas of the curriculum.
All of our learning will be based on the key texts we have chosen. These will include: ‘Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes’ by Mem Fox’, ‘This is Our House’ by Micheal Rosen, ‘Hairy Maclary’ by Lynley Dodd, ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ by Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks and ‘The Cave’ by Rob Hodgson.
We will also be incorporating traditional tales such as ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’, ‘The Gigantic Turnip’, ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ and ‘The Gingerbread Man’. We are looking forward to exploring our key questions: 'What makes me, me?, ‘What do we care about?’, ‘What is happening around me?’, ‘Are we alone?’ ‘What is beautiful?’ and ‘How have we grown?’ throughout the year in Nursery.
We will be making use of every part of our wonderful classroom exploring the sensory aspects of our texts and gaining deeper knowledge of some of the concepts touched on in the stories. We will do this using our role play, water, fine motor, maths, writing, painting, construction, creative, junk modelling, sand, reading and small world areas. We will also be using the outdoor classroom wherever possible. We like to go outside everyday so in the Autumn and Winter months; warm outdoor clothing and waterproof footwear are very important.
Each day in Nursery our children are provided with new, fun and intriguing activities that require lots of energy! It’s essential that we all get a good night’s sleep so that we can get maximum enjoyment out of every session
What a special experience Nursery is for everyone involved. We are privileged to be able to share it with your exceptional children.
